On Saturday 10 October 2026 at 7:30 PM, The Tung Auditorium in Liverpool will host “Different Trains: Made in Liverpool” a concert by Ensemble 10:10. The programme includes Straw Dogs by Mark Simpson. In ancient Chinese rituals, straw dogs were used as offerings to the gods. During the ritual they were treated with utmost reverence. When it was over and they were no longer needed they were trampled on and tossed aside. The work, premiered by Ensemble 10:10 in 2011, is a response to text from John Grey’s book of the same name.
